Product Description
Includes Two Lengths of Speaker Cable Speaker Bases Mounting Brackets Users Manual

Amazon.com Product Description
Now you can groove to your favorite tunes, rain or shine. Yamaha's NS-AW350 bookshelf speakers are perfect for deck or porch placement, delivering punchy bass and even, extended treble in just about any desired location. You can bring them in during the cold months and set them up indoors, too: their high build quality and good sound lend them equally well to two-channel indoor listening.

The speakers, which are sold as a pair, each use a 6.5-inch high-compliance, polypropylene, mica-filled woofer and 1-inch PEI dome tweeter. The drivers are optimized for high rigidity but low mass, giving them high sensitivity (87 dB with 2.83V at 1 meter), another way of saying they're easily driven by modest amplifiers. Their acoustic-suspension cabinets are sealed to prevent undue resonance or tubby, tuneless bass, which often results from low-cost ported designs.

With a nominal impedance of 6 ohms, the speakers will work nicely with amplifiers up to 40 watts per channel, nominal, or 130 watts, peak power. They boast a frequency response of 55 to 40,000 Hz (+/-3 dB), giving you reasonably full bass for their size and unusually extended high-frequency response for your most demanding digital media.

The speakers are magnetically shielded, so you can place them on or near a TV or video monitor without fear of picture degradation from their magnetic fields. Five-way binding posts simplify connection with several different terminations of speaker cable (including banana plugs), and the NS-AW350s even come with two lengths of cable to get you started.

While you wouldn't want to leave the speakers exposed on, say, the deck of a boat, they are water resistant and designed to withstand light wind and rain--a benefit of their sealed enclosures and rugged metal grilles. The speakers come with mounting bases and brackets.

What's in the Box
Two speakers, two lengths of speaker cable, speaker bases, mounting brackets, a warranty card, and a user's manual.

5 out of 5 stars Great sound   July 28, 2010
Daniellewis3
These speakers really sound great outside and can be played loud. Louder then I will play them. I wanted to test them out at a high volume and they sounded nice and clear at the back of the yard (50 yards). One problem, due to the heat and humidity here in Texas during the summer, the front grills started to fall off. Only a little bit of glue was used to adhere them to the speakers. Easy to fix. Very happy with the rest of the build quality.

4 out of 5 stars Good Speakers at a Good Price   April 26, 2010
Stephen R. Hacker (Minnetonka, MN)
I like these speakers and I would recommend them. Having paid around $95 with Super Saver Shipping, I feel that they are just what I needed. Living in the Minneapolis area, and having checked the Big Box Stores, I could not locate a pair of outdoor speaks for less than $300.

I have mounted my speakers outdoors, under the eves (sp?) over my pair of garage doors, to keep them shielded from the rain. The only hitch was that the provided bracket dictates that you mount them on a wall rather than on a ceiling. My intent was to aim the speakers toward our front patio, and the wall mount bracket would not allow for this. So, I improvised by mounting one end of the bracket in to the eve, and then I attached the speaker to the outside end of the other side of the bracket. Thus, the bracket hangs down vertically attached by one, heavy duty wood screw at the top - you'll need to provide this screw, while each speaker attaches to the other end of the bracket by the screw-on connector provided for each speaker. I know that this might be hard to imagine but if you play around with the brackets provided with the speakers, you should be able to mount the speakers in a place and at a direction to meet your needs.

4 out of 5 stars I would prefer more bass sound...   November 18, 2009

Nice sound. Clear on the mid and high frequencies, but I would prefer more ability on the lower side of the range. Maybe this is just a personal preference.
Very good product and value for the price.

3 out of 5 stars OK for the money, some issues   July 27, 2009
Mike (Dallas, Tx)
The sound on these doesn't blow me away but is fine for outdoor patio use. They can get plenty loud and the price was definitely a good deal. I only really have had two issues thus far.

First of all, if you plan on mounting these any way but straight off a wall, plan on purchasing additional mounting hardware. The instructions mention some sort of 'mega' bracket, which is a joke. I scoured the net and found others baffled by this phantom mounting device. Yamaha is doing a disservice to it's customers by even printing this in the enclosed documentation. I needed to mount these on the patio ceiling but did end up finding a great bracket that is sturdy and has quite a bit of flexibility. The bracket is item number 10776 from a1components.com. I'm sure you can find it elsewhere but it is very sturdy, made of metal and not plastic. Best of all it was only $13 per bracket. It did the trick for ceiling mounting.

The other issue is the grills just fall off. After only about two weeks outside, the grills just dropped right off. I live in Texas but the speakers are completely out of the sun. I had to strap rubber bands around the speaker bodies to keep the grills on. It's not attractive but seems to work. It seems like a better design would include a simple clip in of the grills instead of using glue. The Yamaha engineers must not have tested the glue above 80 degrees F.

4 out of 5 stars poolside music   June 28, 2009

The Yamaha name on a product is one I have learned to trust. Therefore I bought these speakers unseen and unheard.I was not disappointed. The sound quality was very good for outdoors. The high and low notes of my classical music were brilliant although I would have preferred a deeper richer bass.
