Amazon.com Product Description Take your favorite music outdoors without losing precious fidelity with the JBL Northridge N24AWII weather-resistant bookshelf speakers. Designed for patios, porches, and other areas with a roof eve or awning, the speakers are ideal for lazy summer parties, wedding receptions, and other outdoor gatherings, as their JLB-exclusive Kapton voice coils and Heatscape motor structures provide rich, crisp audio without withering under intense heat or whipping wind. And should listeners not have a suitable outdoor environment--the speakers aren't waterproof, so uncovered areas aren't ideal--they can move inside and use them as bookshelf stereo speakers or rear speakers in a surround system. The speakers even come with individual brackets for mounting on a wall. Each speaker includes a 0.75-inch titanium-laminate cone tweeter that reproduces high notes and dialogue at the peak of precision. The tweeter also boasts an oval orientation called Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS), which results in a wider horizontal dispersion of sound. The idea is simple: turn every seat, no matter where it's located, into the best seat in the house or yard. Meanwhile, the mids and lows radiate from the professionally engineered 4-inch WeatherPlas cone woofers. Additional audio enhancements include FreeFlow flared ports that minimize distortion and thump and a Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover network that divides the audio signal with minimal processing for a better overall sound. The N24AWII's technical specifications include a maximum recommended amplifier power of 100 watts, a frequency response of 75 Hz to 20 kHz, and a crossover frequency of 3,000 Hz. Audiophiles will also appreciate the sturdy five-way binding posts, which both provide a variety of secure hookup options and preserve the nuances of the source music. The speakers hail from JBL's Northridge E Series, which comprises not only floorstanding and bookshelf speakers, but also center channel speakers, subwoofers, and anything else you need to create a superior surround system. The speakers measure 6.25 by 9.5 by 4.75 inches (W x H x D) and are covered by a five-year warranty on parts and labor. What's in the Box Two N24AWII speakers, self-adhesive rubber feet, wall brackets, warranty card, user's manual.

JBL Northridge Bookshelf Speakers July 10, 2010 Artman (Phila,Pa.) They sound good but not like REAL JBL's.They are good for the Money and look pretty good too as I am using them inside for a small home theater system. They are more of an off-white as compared to a bright white.Mounting brackets worked out well and seem pretty sturdy. The speakers themselves seem pretty well constructed too considering the cost.Recommended but dont expect too much.
amazing speaker May 7, 2010 Joseph Durall I am using this speaker as the rear speaker. This speaker will not disappoint you. The sound is crisp and clear. The mounting kit is very good.
Outdoor Perfect April 1, 2010 James Cody (Texas) These are great little speakers - especially for the price. I put them out by the pool and they have a nice sound. For you pure audio buffs it may sound a bit tinny. I'm not sure I'd use them in the house as my surround sound speakers as some have suggested. But for a mid-size backyard these do very well. Don't lose the round wrench that tightens the speaker wire nut - it is very handy.
Pleasantly Surprised January 24, 2010 Andrew Thome (Chicago, IL) I have always been a fan of JBL but never much of a fan of bookshelf speakers. Plus, the outdoor speakers I've always known have seen to sound "tight" and "tinny" typically because they have to be water proof. I can happliy say, not these!
They do lack bass but actually have a good beat to them for their size. I would say it is really only a problem if you are one who enjoys large bass sound. But, if you are, you'd probably have a powered subwoofer - or should get one. These speakers were an amazing price for a Northridge Series and great sound. I would recommend them to anyone. I have thought about replacing all of my surround speakers with these as I am using them as my main pair to save space.

*I have the black pair of these speakers, so I cannot comment on the appearance or finish on the white set*
I bought these speakers several years ago to be used as outdoor wall-mounted speakers. They worked out very well for almost a year outside before I took them down and brought them inside due to noise ordinance issues. The sound outside was very good, and handled medium to medium-loud volumes without any trouble, even with the speaker wire running perhaps 40-50 feet. Mounted outside, these speakers dispersed sound very well and I was often asked where the speakers were because the sound seemed to be all around.
I pretty much forgot about these speakers for a few years, and then found myself needing a set of speakers since my son took mine for his room. I dug these out and hooked them up and was surprised at the quality. I wasn't expecting much from a set of indoor/outdoor bookshelf speakers but these exceeded my expectations. I pulled off the grill and looked at the speaker components, and everything was in tip-top shape and very high quality.
These speakers handle mid-range exceptionally well, especially voices, drums, and guitars. Also, even with the volume turned up extremely high the sound remains clear and strong, with little detectable distortion.
Although these handle the higher notes found in classical music very well, they sound very directional due to the small size.
Bass handling was acceptable, but these speakers would benefit from a subwoofer if your music has a lot of bass.
Overall, for bookshelf speakers, these are very impressive for a wide range of musical tastes. I would recommend these if you need indoor/outdoor speakers, have limited space, or want to enjoy quality speakers on a budget.
